Tree harvest was from a new stand of trees this year&#8211;we got a Douglas Fir (they also had White Pine); there were no Canaan Firs as in previous years. By and large, the trees in this field were beautifully sheared, giving them near-perfect conical shapes. (How long before someone introduces topiary Christmas trees, I wonder?)<\/p>\n<p>Counting the rings on a slice of trunk, I guess the tree has been around a few months longer than we&#8217;ve been in DC.
